1 week removed from what will be my 20th competition. For this one I decided to compete raw (with wraps). Which in the RPS is considered "raw modern". I qualified for the XPC semi finals multiply but honestly had so many disruptions to my lead up this that I wouldn't have been dialed in. But, I believe my training will/should always allow me to compete raw and show improvement with or without any gear. Besides I usually do one meet raw a year so I can give myself some honest numbers without the effect of different gear combos.

Weight Class: 242
Weight today: 244, feeling good only need to maintain for another 7 days and cut 2 lbs the day before.

Goals:
in the RPS a pro total is 1605. (pro is basicly un-drug tested. OR you can pay the extra $100 just to prove you're drug free. I'm not willing to shell out another $100 dollars when I'm not making any money on this)
In the XPC an elite total is 1620.
So I'm shooting for at least 1630 this time around.

Openers:
Squat: 540
Bench: 365
deadlift: 540
I pick conservative openers just to play it safe. In my mind there is no excuse for me not to finish a meet. Its unthinkable and completely unacceptable to bomb out. Short of breaking a bone I'm all in, but I also believe in strategy and setting myself up for success. So I'm expecting some decent jumps between attempts. At this point I've finished every meet I have ever entered. And I've PR'd in every single competition after the first. I intend to keep that streak intact.

Should be a great day we've got several guys from my gym all competing so should be plenty of energy to feed off of. Will post videos once its all said and done! Then I'm taking a mini vacation to Colorado and the rocky mountains to heal up.

2 days away, weighed in at 242.6 this morning so I am right where I want to be. Today will make a large bowl of salad with chip chop ham (approximately 1500 cals total) and some toast to keep energy levels up. tomorrow night I will fast before the official weigh ins.

Everything is going according to plan.

Official bodyweight: 240.5

Squats (with knee wraps)
opener: 540 good
second: 580 good (Raw meet PR)
third: 605 miss

Bench press
opener: 365 good
second: 405 good (Raw meet PR)
third : 420 miss

deadlift
opener: 540 good
second: 580 good (Raw meet PR)
third: 600 good (Raw meet PR)

Total: 1585 (Raw meet pr) not what I wanted or know I'm capable of though

Well several new PR's but just didn't put it together today. Felt something starting to strain inner quad/ groin area on my left side on the second squat, and really didn't have it for the third. No excuse the calls where deep but consistent across the board. Never really felt like I had my legs under me. I was fired up and looking to make up some ground on the bench. The 405 felt great, had a massive cramp and missed the 420. Should have been more aggressive with my rehydrating.. or just got really drunk.. one of those. Ultimately didn't want to push the leg as I could/can see the bruises forming on my inner thigh. figured I'd keep working towards the 600 raw as thats kind of a bench mark pull in my opinion. We stayed with the plan for the deadlift and got them all in short order.

Was a great meet, very well run! Take some time off from training probably a week or two then back in the pitt.. I will get stronger!

I should have the videos up in the next day or two

Do you have another meet in mind to begin training for once your time off has ended?

Not yet, I'm still deciding if I want to do multiply next or raw again. I really do feel that my raw work translates well to my equiped lifting. And I have some weakness's that came to light yesterday that I want to get to work fixing them. After some much needed rest. Kind of want to talk to my team and see what everybody else is thinking.

We had 6 lifters (and 3 or 4 guys that arent members of our gym that we helped out) And probably 10 of our guys made the drive just to support us and handle getting each of us ready. As much of an individual effort as powerlifting is, there is no replacement for support like that! Coupled with the support from you guys here at swole source kinda feel like I need to take things to another level and really push for some bigger numbers next year!

LMAO! Yeah Ive been paying for said depth for the past few days. I'm partial to raw, but equipped work has its place as well. Luckily I have great people to train with so I can explore both sides of the coin.

Thanks brother. There were some F'n beasts there, so I'm going to have to push a little harder if I really want to make it to that next level. Always great to have you on board man!

I really felt like 420 was going to be mine.. but cramped up. I'll get it. Actually I'll be getting on a plane here shortly and head out to Denver / rocky mountain area myself while I recoup.

I agree...I also thought 420 was going to go right up for you.

Weather is fantastic out here right now. Have you been out before?

Nope was my first visit to colorado! Haven't spent much time out west. Made for a great trip. The rocky national park was closed and so was part of route 34. But still managed to get some nice hiking in and visit some of the breweries.
