How do you know if you’re sensitive to dairy and should avoid it? I feel mostly recovered these days but I notice if I drink lots of yogurt/milk or eat lots of ice cream I get some mild brain fog/lethargic feelings. I’m not sure it this means I’m allergic or sensitive to dairy. I get a similar feeling after I pig out on gluten free carbs post workout so I’m thinking it could also have nothing to do with the dairy but be due to sugar.

Fwiw, I avoided dairy for over a year post crash ”just in case” it could have slowed down my recovery, but have eaten it semi-regularly again since Jan/Feb.

Any thoughts?

Not trying to be a smartass at all, but just avoid it for a week or two and see how you feel. Mainly in the digestion department. I didn't think I had much of a dairy sensitivity, and I used dairy all through recovery without it keeping me from attaining it, but I do feel better now digestively when I don't eat dairy. Most people have dairy sensitivities - especially to non-organic industrial dairy.

Try raw goats milk or raw cow milk if you feel you need some dairy even after you deem yourself to have a sensitivity. Usually these work well for people in these cases from what I've read.

Dairy is weird for me. I eat non fat greek yogurt almost every day and feel great. I'll melt swiss or mozz cheese in my eggs sometimes and still feel fine. But a glass of milk fucking WRECKS me. Even if I buy that lactaid milk.

Digestion wise? Or like anxiety?

Try some almond milk instead of dairy milk, and skip cheese for a few weeks. Personally, I think almond milk is superior in general, because it has no estrogen (like dairy milk has) and no phytoestrogen (like soy milk has).

So I've been drinking goat's milk instead of cow milk for about a week now, and can already tell a difference in how I feel. Makes sense as goat's milk only has casein a2 and not a1 like cow milk. It's just a shame it's so pricey here as I buy organic.

Thanks for the help guys.

Sounds like lactose issue. A lot of the lactose is processed out by the time it becomes yogurt or cheese (depending on the cheese). I am similar - milk doesn’t sit right but many cheeses are fine. I am not fully lactose intolerant, but there is a spectrum

Hey xxaleksi , how are your gut issues now? I remember you posted about how you felt recovered but wouldn't make a post until your gut issues were sorted out. Did you have IBS like symptoms (cramps/diarrhea)?
