If so, are you a rifle guy, pistol guy, one of those AR types etc.
Whats your most prized weapon and whats your setup?

I have a Colt Python that my father in law gave me as a wedding present. It's my favorite because he's a hard man to read and this gun was his way of welcoming into the family.

Im not really a " gun guy" but I have a 9 shot .22 revolver that was my brother's before he died. It's fun to plink around with and really pretty accurate.

I also have a Sauer, Sohn, & Sohl from WWI that my grandfather pulled off the body of a dead German soldier. It's a .25 cal semi auto pistol.

My favorite gun is my Marlin .22 cal rifle... Model 60. I've had it for 24/25 years now. Cheap to shoot, amazingly accurate, light-weight and very versatile. Once in a while I'll throw a scope on it, but most of the time I just shoot/hunt open-sight.

That's one hell of a wedding present. I've never shot one, but they are supposed to be made to very tight tolerances. Their value also continues to rise from what I've seen. I'd say the man is glad to have you in the family. By the way, what barrel length?

There's a certain feeling I get when I hold relics that my grandfather brought back from WWII. Can't quite describe it. WWI pistol - awsome piece of history.

I have a S&W model 66 357 magnum with a 2 1/2 inch barrel that I really like. Very accurate for a short barrel revolver.

I have a few different types.

H&K USP 9mm
S&W M&P .40
a few AR-15 5.56

Looking at picking up a Benelli M2 tactical shotgun in the near future and probably building a few more AR-15's and possible a .50cal

they are really super easy to build. Getting hard to find stuff because of all the people freaking out right now, but parts are still out there. I actually just got a new upper this afternoon.

Where does one learn how to build one and where do I find a parts list?

The Benelli M2 makes me drool but my wallet says that my Rem 870 is enough for now. Gotta love that inertia action.

The only hard part with building them is getting parts right now. There's a few websites that are helpful in tracking stuff down, AR15.com has a ton of resources, as well as arpartsfinder.com

Check out this link, guys list up parts as they become in stock in various threads:

Build it yourself forum:
Build It Yourself - AR15.COM (http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_3/4_Build_It_Yourself.html)

but be warned, some shit is stupid expensive right now, all the rednecks in the country have put a run on the market

Good to see other fellow gun enthusiasts. Any other collectors/03 FFL C&R holders here?

I have a nice balance between my WW2 collectables and modern firearms.

A few of my recent modern purchases (before everything went nuts) I'm a huge Glock fan, but nothing can every replace the legendary 1911 platform:

Ruger SR1911

Russian VEPR 12 (12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun) It took many aspects of the Saiga 12 and made them better basically.

currently building 3 AR's, on is nearly complete with a Spikes Tactical Complete Lower and Mechanical upper (piston).

I have two more lowers to build up, just waiting for upper receiver parts to come back down in price.

god I love my Ruger 10/22!

It's a toss up between the AK and AR platform with me. I absolutely love both, but tend to lean more AK. In all honesty, I have more fun shooting my Milsurp rifles in general. I'd take my M1 Garand over anything else in my collection.

Here's my current AR-15 below. I upgraded just about every aspect from its stock condition. I had an nickel boron bolt carrier group on order, but decided it's really not necessary. I have another lower to build, but I'm not in a rush. I plan to build an AR-10 at some point...but definitely not right now.

Here's one of my AK-47's. It's a WASR 10/63 that I upgraded a bit.

I just recently go into the AR game, before that it's been nothing but bolt guns and my M1A. My M1A is my absolute favorite, shoots like a dream, 2 inch groups at 100 yds with iron sights, not even trying to aim.

My SA .45 was my first purchase, I love this pistol, I can't say it's better than the full size Colt's I have, but it's an awesome weapon.

Great pics, guys!

My M1A is the only rifle that I have chambered in 7.62x51/.308. It's an absolutely amazing piece of engineering; just like its predecessor the M1 Garand.

Here's a quick pic of the M1 Garand that I use as a shooter. It's a HRA build (1954). She easily shoots 2 MOA at 100 yards with iron sights from a bench. These guns are absolutely amazing; Patton was spot on in his assessment. I don't shoot the "42 Springfield that I have right now. I honestly consider myself a shooter first and a collector second. Many in the C&R community are beyond anal in being purists. Me....if I own the gun, i'm going to shoot it. Unless....it's some extremely rare variant.

That is a beautifully done weapon. Is it the lighting or is all the hardware nickel plated or brushed or something?

The Springfield Armory IS a 1911, albeit not a Colt, but it is a 1911.

when I went through battleschool in the cdn forces, we were using FN's back then in the mid 80's, I qualified at the sniper level on the shoot to kill program, only thing was I wasn't using a sniper rifle, just open Iron sights. I think upper body strength was the reason I did so well as I could stabilize the weapon easily. Kinda miss it all now, and being in Canada, can't get any of the good weapons legally lol

I've been a shooter in varying degrees since I was a kid. Although thanks to the out-of-control ammo prices, I haven't done much shooting the past five years or so. The only time I really shoot anymore is on the range qualifying.

for cali you must have a 10 round fixed mag and a bullet button installed. Kind of a pain, but if you leave the state it is easy to change back.

I think if you build an AR all the way from scratch in Caifornia, you wont have to register it.

USN HM 350Z
04-11-2013, 01:45 AM
only if you go to another state to buy the lower. If you buy it in Cali or have it shipped to a FFL it will automatically be registered.

Then if you have an unregistered one and take it to a range and LEO checks it and you do not have a cali legal model they will run the serial number.

Military are allowed to have weapons and magazines that exceed what is Cali law, but they want them registered. Do any military really do that? probably not.

kind of like spring loaded blades are illegal, but military can have them
