Coffee’s effect on coughs is mixed. While caffeine has anti-inflammatory effects and can stimulate the central nervous system, improving alertness and performance, it may not be ideal for treating a cough directly. Some studies show that a honey coffee combination can help soothe persistent postinfectious cough (PPC) more effectively than coffee alone. Similar to how checking wendys menu helps you pick the right meal, choosing the right coffee or drink for a cough matters. On the downside, regular coffee can dry out the throat, worsen coughing, and interfere with rest, which is crucial for recovery. Limiting caffeinated drinks while sick is generally recommended.
