Regarding the nofap, I recall reading something similar to what you mentioned. I believe it was a study done on an animal model that showed androgen receptors in the brain regenerated after 4-7 days of no release...its a difficult part of this protocol, at least for some of us, but I have repeatedly seen users on here doing it successfully for weeks on end prior to their recovery.
The rice doesn’t cause any overt symptoms, otherwise I would have figured that out right away. There’s no way that I would have kept eating it for over a year if it was giving me stomach pains (gastrointestinal disturbance), or bad memories of when ninjas flooded my village with rice and I had to avenge my family (pshchological disturbance).

I'm not sure if rice is interfering with my hormones in some way, but that’s my guess. I almost never get gastrointestinal issues, the only exception is that chickpeas make me fart relentlessly.

Yeah, I do think that NoFap is very important, although it’s the part of the protocol that I have really never been able to tackle despite using an enormous amount of willpower. My bed was just not conducive to me not masturbating, so I have to change that. Like at hotels or staying at my brother’s house or my parents house - I have absolutely no problem not masturbating. Or my own couch. So hopefully getting less soft bedding stuff will help me. I definitely have to find a way to tackle it.

Depending on when you fap, I notice After the first or second dose of herbs ( also mega dosing pine pollen) I’m really in that mood to bust one out in the middle of work. I try to then use that urge and direct it towards the gym or something and it usually works. Longest I’ve lasted nodap was 9 days

I don’t get consistent mega libido spikes from the herbs like that, and since PFS it’s rare that I feel actively horny during the middle of the day, unless it’s a big upswing. But I think part of this is that I am perpetually “sexually exhausted” from fapping even 2 - 4 times per week, and that that inhibits my recovery.

The libido that I do have, I need to let it build up, and I think that will help me recover. Like you said, it can be directed at the gym.

I’m not sure if I really have a target number of days, but I’m thinking I shouldn’t fap more than once per month at most, and ideally not at all.

Lol Okay, I dont know why I said "psychological," but I meant "emotional/hormonal"....I'm going to give the nofap a more concerted effort myself....rick the ruler and maxout stand out, but there were many others, who make mention of doing this for long periods preceding their recovery announcements....kinda hard to have no release when you live with your fiance, but damn I really need to give this a go longer term

lol I’m glad you liked the ninja joke

For you personally, remember that NoFap doesn’t apply to sex, just masturbation.

There’s “hard mode” where guys also don’t masturbate OR have sex, but remember that the NoFap community is mostly for porn addicts. It’s the place for guys who literally need to watch porn on their phone while they’re having sex, otherwise they will not be able to stay hard. Yes, that’s an actual thing, and it has broken up marriages.

Or they’ve found themselves not even being able to stay hard while watching porn. Their brains are sexually exhausted and they have an extremely high visual arousal threshold, due to pushing past the sexual exhaustion over and over again. Someone that deep into a porn addiction needs to stop fapping AND sex, since the sex would fail without porn, or if they can have sex, they will have to think about porn while they’re having sex. That’s the true porn addict level.

There are other guys on the middle of the spectrum. The guy who has sex with his girlfriend once a week, and he faps Monday through Friday after work every night because that’s been his relaxation ritual for the last ten years. He doesn’t have the drive/energy to have normal sex with her 4 nights a week like she wants, AND ALSO masturbate 5 or 6 nights as week. That’s the guy who can just substitute the masturbation with sex, assuming his partner is wiling to do that.

And then at the other end of the spectrum, you have someone who doesn’t have a porn problem whatsoever, but he’s read NoFap success stories and he thinks that not orgasming will turn him into a turbo-Chad who will overcome all of the non-sexual problems in his life. Would he get benefit from not fapping? Absolutely. Should he tell his girlfriend he is now totally abstinant because he wants to gain NoFap super powers? I think that’s overdoing it.

Guys with PFS aren’t (usually) overstimulated from too much porn, the thing is that finasteride has messed up the body’s normal hormonal functioning in a way that the body cannot naturally fix. In this state, it is easy to become sexually exhausted. If we just snuff out the earliest flickers of libido, that prevents the libido from ever accelerating into actual horniness. And it might be the case that that horniness helps the healing - I have no science to back that up, it’s just a hunch.

If you’re not feeling any signs of sexual exhaustion, then I think it’d be fine to have sex, but I would remove the fapping altogether because it’s not worth having anything to possibly slow down recovery.

I'm probably a strange case, given that my pre PFS sexual habits included sex and masturbation, as it isnt always the case that my fiance can keep up with my libido. What probably made my situation even more unusual is that I most often satisfied the masturbation urge by using photos of my fiance (pardon the personal info, but how can I avoid it if I'm being thorough). Does this count as porn, I wonder? It definitely feels different than looking at standard porn, I have to say...but the body maybe sees it as all the same. Despite successfully reaching many 3, and a few 5, day streaks these last few months, I cant help but wonder if my whole situation would vastly improve if I just totally omitted the fapping. To be honest, the sex hasn't been often at all anyway lately, as I'm usually not working correctly for it/having major performance anxiety on top of the other stuff. But thenagain, maybe if I cut out the spradic fapping (which, in all honesty, sometimes is just me doing the oft-reprimanded "testing of symptoms"), the sex woukd immensely benefit (of course it would). I'm having to relearn so much shit lately, and the idea that I cant just snuff out those libidinal flickers, as you aptly put it, and expect it to regenerate in 5 minutes is like learning how to swim for me...but I'm slowly wrapping my head around it all. I have to learn to really let it build....never was a strength of mine, being a sex maniac....

Anecdotally, it seems like most of us here were high-libido, so that’s not too rare. Fapping to photos of your fiance still counts as porn, and it would be best to not do that and see if it helps, along with everything else. I think NoFap is an underrated and important part of this, and I’m looking forward to going past 5 days this time.

When I recovered from side effects with Accutane out the blue it all kind of happened around the same time I'd finished a 90 day streak, think its got to do with the neuroplasticity of the brain combined with the dopamine effects plus death gripping when the little guys already on life support probably isn't gonna help.

Interesting! I mean I know it is part of the protocol, but oddly enough its (for me anyway) probably the hardest aspect to stick to.
I never spent much time on propecia help, other than to read through some of cd's old posts, but I do recall this one fella who swears his pfs got cured after I think 4 months of nofap.
