I know this might sound a little crazy (i'm not defending the taliban, my ship bombed the piss out of them in 06 and 07) but the taliban is more of a political religious group than a terror network. they have definite ties to terrorists like the hakani terror network (all of which operates out of our "allies" backyard, the pakistanis) but i would be surprised if the actual taliban, the mullah omar variety, was directly behind this
