    Another Oneiromancer Log by Sperwer

I got a bottle of Oneiromancer the other day courtesy of Totalflexblog and had the first dose last night. I only took a single cap, because I already have multiple lucid dreams nearly every night, so I want to ease into this. Especially since my dreams are often very strenuous and sometimes leave me a bit strung out in the morning - not so much physically (although that too is occasionally an issue) as psychologically. Interestingly, even though I frequently have combat recall dreams, those aren't the ones that rattle me (go figure!); rather it's all sorts of other stuff from the past - that I never consciously think of - that seemingly randomly gets stirred up. I'm hoping that ONEI will promote better recall, so I can try to get a handle of the psychodynamics of this stuff, and perhaps also mitigate its sometimes exhausting effects. Anyway, one cap didn't have any particularly discernible impact, so I'll be doing 2 tonight. I spent part of the day today visiting with an old friend who commands a unit of the Philippines' premier SpecOps force, the Scout Rangers. They usually are in the bush hunting the Islamist terrorists Abu Sayyaf, but are now on training maneuvers. As a result of my visit, I can pretty much guarantee some combat footage. And of course, there is likely to be some x-rated stuff. Stay tuned.

    Day 2

Took 2 caps last night. Three noticeable effects.

    1. Became very relaxed within about 20 minutes and fell asleep more quickly than usual.

    2. Dreams were more vivid than usual. More color and some unique alteration between full technicolor and black and white. Also a unique auditory element; in the past sound was more of an abstraction - just the idea of sound, really (ditto previous olfactory elements); last night it was full-on sound track for a couple of the dreams; smells were still abstractions.

    3. Somewhat enhanced recall.

No dramatic improvement in quality of feeling of rested-ness in the morning.

    The dreams:

    A. As expected, first up was an action flick. Started out as a continuation of my meeting earlier in the day with my pal from the Filipino Scout Rangers, with the two of us informally reviewing his unit, as we in fact had, then talking out loud about some of our experiences and other old friends as we walked around the training camp. The full dream mode commenced when we started talking in more detail and about feelings, something we ordinarily don't do. Our walk morphed into an armed patrol with his guys up a ravine where we engaged a group of guerrilla fighters in a firefight. That quickly morphed again into a reprise of an engagement in which I actually participated 45 years ago and which started to play back in black & white! In that firefight my augmented squad had sprung an ambush on an NVA unit, which turned out to be much bigger than we had been led to expect - at least half a company. Since it was much larger than the killing ground could accommodate, I had to order fire before they were all inside. It also meant that if their commander were smart, which I assumed, he would try to outflank the long leg of our ambush position (a steep bluff on the other side protected us from that direction), so I and a couple guys peeled off to head off the flanking move. All of that was pretty accurately reflected in the dream. As we ran along through the long grass in the dream, though, Creedence Clearwater's Run Thru the Jungle suddenly started playing over the sounds of the M16s, M60, M203, Claymores and AKs. Then we engaged forward elements of the would-be flankers and my RTO was shot through the hand, and I stopped for a bit to wrap up his hand. (This hadn't happened in the real event, but the guy involved later did plug my wound when I was shot in another fight later in the war.) We then kept on and managed to keep up a rate of fire that dissuaded the enemy from continuing. There were a couple of final one-on-one encounters with laggards that were up close and personal and ugly enough (and the more gruesome details of which hadn't shown up in previous dreams about this event), and suddenly back in color, and that (along with BPH-induced nocturia) woke me up.

    B. I don't remember ever having had a dream that involved totally fantastic elements - flying, monsters, etc., although I probably had some as a kid. But last night was an exception. It featured a woman with some Rosemary's Baby sort of powers that were pretty disconcerting. I should have written it all down when I woke up from it, because now I've forgotten the details. Nothing sexual, though.

    C. I had at least 2 more dreams last night, but have also lost the details for having failed to note them down when awakening.

I usually wake up briefly after every dream, but this is usually as much to do with BPH-related nocturia as anything in the dream. But it does tend to take a bit of a toll. This morning it seemed less, but it's too early to say much for certain on that score.

No unpleasant sides so far, so tonight I'll bump up to 3 caps to test tolerance.

So I've missed updating for 7 days or so. Apologies. Couldn't be helped, though, as I was out in the boonies in the Philippines and WIFI coverage was very dodgy if it was available at all. It then got worse when the big typhoon hit, which also delayed my return home for a few days. I also missed dosing the last few days. But that turned out to be a good thing. Although my experience before the hiatus was that sleep quality was improved, I didn't think I was seeing much in terms of better lucid dreaming or dream recall. On th first score, I wasn't surprised as I already have long been a lucid dreamer. But since re-engaging, I have noticed taht dreams are more vivid and easier to recall. Last night I had 5. Here are the highlights from three.

First up was an all out XXX dream, in which I was in a 3 on 1 tag team match with Riley Reid, Skin Diamond and Asa Akira. Suffice it to say, a good time was had by all, and I woke up with the boys out of the barracks and on full alert.

Second was a weird episode in which I was involved in a fight with a creature sort of like the aliens in Independence Day, except that it was humanoid on the outside, but with really thick, tough skin - more like heavily tanned leather. I had a sword but it was barely making a dent on its hide, so it took a long time to get through to the little humanoid homonunclus on the inside that seemed to be in control. When I finally managed to uncover it sufficiently, I killed it.

Third was also weird. I was part of a performance group something like Cirque d'Soleil, in which there was some really bad blood between the leader and one of the other performers. The leader's nemesis was always trying to kill him, and I was defending him. The climax involved my walking into a room where the leader was being slowly strangled by hanging while his bound and gagged girlfriend watched. I managed to cut him done before it was too late. The bad guy then entered and I killed him. Then, however, I discovered a face mask and other costume items that the leader's girl friend had been using to impersonate the bad guy, and it turned out that she had restrained herself. So it seemed like I had killed an innocent man.

Wesley asked in Mac's thread whether this stuff helped you go to sleep faster and sleep better. In my experience, "yes" on both counts.

The day before yesterday was leg day for me, and I managed weight and rep PRs in incline leg press, squats, hack squats and quad extensions. As always when I have a particularly intense session, my switchboard was fried. So much so that when I went to bed that evening, early because I was feeling so knackered, I forgot to dose the Oneiromancer. I thought of it when I was in bed but felt myself fading and didn't want to get up and go downstairs for it. Alas, it was not to be. I almost fell asleep but the neural agitation from over-stressing the CNS kicked in hard and kept me awake and fidgety. After awhile, I made the trip downstairs, and toke my dose (2 caps). After returning to bed, I must have nodded off within 10 minutes and slept very soundly. I also had the usual 3-4 dreams, but forgot them because i was focused on something I had to do right when I got up. Anything that can put me down in such a short time when my CNS is as haywire s it was the other night definitely gets a place in my pharmacological repertoire.

Last night was not so bad. I had terrible DOMS in the legs, but the neural network was back to normal, even though I had had a taxing chest workout. Again sleep was fast to come and deep, and I awoke refreshed, despite my usual 2 trips to drain the snake and a couple of vivid dreams. I've now forgotten one because of thinking about other stuff this morning, but remember the other longer one. I had spent most of the day yesterday reviewing with a research endocrinologist tweaks to the PP products I'm working on resurrecting. The dream was a kind of continuation of our meeting, in which various 3-dimensional images of molecular diagrams of ingredients were moving around me in space while he and I, working in a fantastically designed laboratory, discussed possibilities, while simultaneously testing the various iterations of the products on ourselves, taking blood samples and negotiating with potential suppliers ( who all happened to be central casting Chinese or Indians) over quantities, prices and quality.
