I'm like Infamy - load with 21's, pin with 25's.
I'll use 1 1/2" for quads and 1" for delts/tris.

I've considered picking up 23's for the quads because I usually pin more volume in them and it does take a while with the 25 ga.

For me, maybe 20 seconds or so for 1ml.

I have used bigger gauge needles in inject before now but I find go much below 23g and you can get some big potholes in your skin and muscle which take a while to go away. Plus if you swim much or wear shorts for a job it doesnt look good to have needle marks all over your legs!

Ultimately, the bigger the gauge the quicker the inject but the more damage you cause doing it and so you may have to wait a while before you can use that same spot again. The smaller the gauge the less damage you do but some oils dont go through really small needles and it takes an age to inject as you get smaller.

As for brand, I use either BD or Terumo. On balance ive found terumo slightly better as ive had a few blunt needles from BD.

Sungshim, local Korean brand. I've seen BD sub-q pins, supplied directly by a doc. I suppose BD and perhaps some other western brand can be got, with a lot of effort and expense, and if I were a newbie that's probably what I'd be looking for; but I've gotten comfortable enough with the quality of most products here that I now live pretty much on the local economy (and not that great supermarket in the sky - the PX).

Thanks Infamy, I don't think I'd mind the extra 'wait time' it takes to plunge, it's the actual stick I guess? I figure once it's in, it's in so long as I'm not stirring it around! lol I've a feeling it's all going to be mental anyways.....at least I hope it is.

BD is my first choice, but I have Terumo too.

It will vary depending on the base oil and the temperature, but 2cc's would take a good 15-20 seconds into the quads.

It seemed to go faster into my tris or delts though.

I agree, Terumo has never let me down, I had a couple experiences with BD where I felt I was jabbing, not piercing.
