I don't think it was a well kept secret at all, I'm very surprised more people didn't jump head first into PP. Eric started shifting directions a bit in that he wanted to make stuff that had never been made, and he did. But it proved to be costly to manufacture and test and it took longer than expected. The decision was made to put the word steriod (Legal steriod, mind you....) right on the box and that caught the eye of the FDA(or someone called the FDA....bitch) and the rest is history. They took all of Eric product without so much as proof of anything. They still have his stuff. Tons of details I left out, but that's the short version. Eric is an absolute genius imo. Everything I've ever used from PP was head n shoulders above anything ever. Androhard and 1T-T were my absolute faves.
