    Shoes??

Any suggestions on some good shoes for the gym? I've been using New Balance cross training/trail running shoes for the last few years and they've treated me OK but as I'm getting up to heavier weights (especially leg days) I feel something with a bit more support might be in order. I unfortunately suffer from very flat and somewhat wide feet so I usually have to get wide shoes, that sometimes seems to sacrifice support. It would be nice to find something good for the gym and still practical for everyday use.

My PR for squat and dead both came wearing high top basketball shoes. Some days I lift/run barefoot.

Lots of people like chuck Taylor's

I Deadlift and squat barefoot. I don't like lack of foundation from the softness of my running shoes on these 2 lifts. They have good powerlifting /crossfit shoes out there but I prefer an "all purpose" shoe because my gym activities are unpredictable. So whatever I do Im covered and if I decided to squat or dead I just kick them off.

Interesting. I'm going to look into some of these suggestions. I've been using the same type of shoes for so long now, but feel it might be time to try something new. New Balance running shoes have been great of general daily use but something with a bit more support/firm and less "squishy" would be nice to try during squats, deadlifts, lunges, etc.
