Gut problems? Get it checked out guys

Just wanted to put this out there. Guys who are experiencing gut problems from pfs (most of us I think) need to follow up on that. I got an endoscopy and colonoscopy done today because of my pfs related gut issues and weight loss. They removed quite a few polyps in my bowel which is not normal for someone my age. These can become cancerous if not found early so it's a good thing they did.

Not 100% that this started from pfs, but I wouldn't doubt it.

I got in through emergency cause I've been a train wreck recently but you need to see a gastroenterologist. If you've had gut problems and especially weight loss, you should be able to get a referral. I sat there wide awake (they didn't give me nearly enough drugs) and watched on a screen as he removed these things from my bowel.

I just got a CT scan today as well, I'm not sure what sort of specialist would order that though

Question for BD or anyone else who has done this...what product did you use for the colon cleanse before your procedure and did you notice any affect on your gut microbiome? I am considering getting a colonoscopy due to my age (over 50) and have concerns about this. I have been working hard for over a year to rebuild/balance my gut and don't want to take something that will f it up again. I found a number of studies, but none with subjects who were likely already in a compromised state.

I took pico-salax and dulcolax the night and morning before the procedure. I have no idea how it would have affected my gut microbiome.

You're wise to consider protecting your microbiome. Most people don't think twice about it. If it was me, I would simply juice for two or more days prior to the procedure. If you're system is working somewhat properly you shouldn't have any solids in you after two days. Plus you'd be getting the benefits of a mini juice feast.

Flooding your body with bioavailable nutrients, vitamins, minerals and phyto-chemicals is never a bad thing to do. When it serves a dual purpose such as this, score!
