I never spent much time on propecia help, other than to read through some of cd's old posts, but I do recall this one fella who swears his pfs got cured after I think 4 months of nofap.
If someone just stopped finasteride for the first time, and they’re having PFS-type symptoms, NoFap can probably help a lot. Some guys report that they got huge libido boosts after stopping fin, and then they masturbated a LOT like 3 times a day for 4 or 5 days in a row, and then crashed. Maybe they would not have crashed if they’d refrained from masturbating, or maybe it would have happened anway.

There are guys whose PFS naturally goes away within the first 6 months (usually 1 - 3 months) and if the NoFap coincides with that, it can possibly help them get a natural recovery. But I haven’t heard of guys with long-term PFS curing it solely through NoFap, and I don’t think it’s normal for that to be enough. There are PFS guys with multi-year NoFap streaks, because they have no libido and severe ED. I’ve never heard of anyone with long-term PFS being cured solely by NoFap, but I have also never heard of anyone who fapped daily or almost daily being cured, period.

NoFap is important, and I struggled with it quite a bit. But I’ve changed my surroundings a bit and it has helped massively, I’m now on a 6 day no-ejaculation streak, which is my longest in over a year.

I think that maybe the neuotransmitters or chemicals that cause horniness can also be involved with or associated with healing the androgen receptors.

If you think about it, most guys with PFS basically don’t get horny. Sure, a lot of guys (including me) can and do have sex, but there’s no neon-flashing lights “SEX DRIVE” where you’re just massively horny in general, with no special stimulus. PFS libido is more of a situational thing, where you can get into it once it starts, but there’s no inner drive where you feel an extreme need for sex. I think that without real libido, the key to NoFap is to identify the habits and environment that trigger you to decide “okay it’s time to fap” and then make modifications to make it easier to avoid that thought process. That way you’re not relying heavily on your willpower, which is limited.

For me, it was ditching the silky underwear I slept with (at least ditching it while sleeping) and making some other changes to my bedding and such.

    It's called "sexual transmutation."

I’ve been sick for almost a week, but for the last few days I’ve been feeling a bit better each day, and I should be better by the weekend. I should probably get a Covid test, but I don’t think it was Covid since I never got a fever, mainly I just needed lots of tissues and I was sneezing all the time.

I’ve also not been responding to the prohormones, not noticing any upswing or anything. And in general, it’s been awhile since I had a really big upswing where I could feel sexual pleasure. I want my old energy back. I want to be able to feel sexual pleasure again.

I made diet adjustments, but I’m finding that it’s insanely hard to get enough calories in, without any rice or red lentil pasta as a post-workout meal. So maybe my calorie deficit isn’t helping. I don’t know. But I’m not noticing any immediate, obvious benefits from cutting out the rice and red lentils. I have been hoping that they were the problem and that I’ll start feeling more benefits from my workouts and herbs/prohormones. It feels a bit like I’m spinning my wheels.

I am turning a corner on the NoFap, I did make it to 6 days twice but made further adjustments so that I should be able to go much further. I feel like I must be doing something wrong, though.

Hey man - sorry to hear that you are still going through this. If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been on the protocol? CD says recovery time is 6 months - 2 years and you WILL recover as long as you follow the protocol. So hopeful for you (and me) as long as we stick to it.

It’s all outlined in this thread, although i know it is long and would take you maybe an hour to read, all the answers are there. It’s just not healthy for me to count the time or rehash everything… I cant dwell on it. I have to move forward only, and if you want answers about my past, they are in my thread. I hope you understand I’m not trying to be rude, I just need to protect my mental health and only focus on positivity.

I need help figuring out what I’m doing wrong, and a way forward. I’m very smart, everything is spelled out from A to Z, but nevertheless, I am fucking this up badly.

Hi ! rice is not recommended? there is no gluten and it seems to me that many here eat it without worries? obviously, prefer long cooking rice for this story of glycemic index.

Rice is a grain, and therefore it’s not paleo. I know that CD lists it in the Carb Backloading section, but there has to be something wrong with what I’m doing since I am not progressing the way that I should be. Also in the past, rice noodles seem to mess me up. I had been eating rice on a regular basis for a long time, so I figured that rice might be holding me back. I’m struggling to replace those calories in my diet with paleo foods, because rice was an easy 1,000 calories per day.

Rice was bloating me out like crazy, and therefore not making me feel too great, but then again I was probably eating too much of it in an effort to backload... as far as potatoes, something that's been helping me get more mileage out of them is mashing them, because it's way easier to eat a ton of mashed potatoes rather than baked, and secondly, you could try taking hamburger patty sized scoops of mashed potatoes, flattening them out, coating them in oil, and then putting ground up sorghum flour on them and frying them in a pan. This makes a delicious tasting hash-brown-esque thing that allows you to get even more mileage out of potatoes

Wow. This puts it into words better than I could. I've tried to explain this to my GF, I'm not sure if she gets it yet – I'm fine once we start, but I don't initiate that often because I just don't have that urge.

If anyone is looking for some literature that does a deep-dive into the psychology of porn/fapping and why it's so hard to break, Google the Easy Peasy Method. Ultimately, I do agree that NoFap isn't the sole key to curing PFS, but it can go a long way toward rewiring your brain in a really positive way.

Thanks, I’m glad you liked it. Just let your GF know that as you recover, that will improve, and that it truly has nothing to do with her or how you feel about her. It’s just a symptom from an illness that you’re recovering from.
