So on the left, is Nature's Way Maca, on the right is Swanson's Maca. Looks like a shit ton of filler with a touch of maca. What do you guy's think?

Both probably have a shit ton of filler and just color it differently. Swanson generally is pretty high quality.

From someone who works for a supplement company, this is pretty spot on. Use it for a month or so and you'll know right away. People who use our agmatine caps know right away they are the real deal because vascularity increases noticeably in the first few days. Anything can be used as a filler and that would change the color/texture/smell potentially.
As others have stated, Swanson is a legit company

Too bad testing was not cheaper and easier. Swanson is pretty legit though as h2 mentions.
More than likely just a difference in raws.
Like others have said Swanson is pretty legit.
I 'unno, it's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like Swanson's has significantly more filler. I looked up the ingredients for Nature's Way and they don't even list any other ingredients other than the gelatin capsule. Swanson's probably has lots of magnesium stearate or rice powder. maca is supposed to have a beige to red color to it. I've been to Nature's Way manufacturing facility and it is legit. In-house HPLC and microbiological testing. I don't know that a lot of companies have that, they might just take the supplier COA on faith. anyway between the 2 I'd trust Nature's Way but that is just me. And besides, why are you taking maca in capsules? You need multiple gram amounts to get an effect and it doesn't taste bad and is much cheaper in powder.
And there is a difference between Swanson being legit for, say, vitamin C (which can be produced cheaply in any Chinese lab to 99% + purity) and maca. a lot of herbals are tricky have to be carefully selected based on growing conditions, harvesting time, preserving and drying, transporting, etc. To say nothing of the identification and contamination issues. if you go with an herbal extract this can be less of an issue since the active components are concentrated and uniform from batch to batch, but the quality of a raw herb can very quite a lot. especially in this industry a lot of companies are not doing due diligence
Swanson's has some of the best cGMP and QC in the business.

Is the Swanson capsule ground up maca? Or maca extract? That would made a difference in coloration.
