I've never used it but have a load of humalog in the fridge. To be frank, I probably never will use it because I don't think the reward is worth the risk. Plus my understanding of insulin is that is will pack on weight, but a hell of a lot of fat.

If anyone knows someone who has developed type 1 diabetes will notice how they get fatter once they start the insulin - its not a coincidence.

But going back to the question at hand, I agree with burly, start low. I'd probably start with just 2iu post workout and work up slowly.

I would also have 50g of maltodextrin dissolved in water ready before injecting. I would also inject at home with a friend who is watching you close st hand. Have glucose tabs close at hand too.

So here is how i would do it. Shoot the insulin, drink a protein with high sugar drink straight after. If you start to feel light headed or strange then start chugging down that ready mixed maltodextrin drink and keep going till you stop feeling light headed. Bear in mind that a hypoglycemic coma kicks in real quickly and you get very little chance to react before it happens.

If you can get it, keep a glucagon injection pen on hand with your friend for emergencies.

Before you use insulin consider this though, if you have normal blood sugar regulation, if you drink a high sugar drink your body will naturally release insulin directly in relation to the amount of sugar ingested. But, and here is the key point, if done in this way your body will always be able to cope and you will not slip into a hypoglycemic coma.

So ask yourself this, if you can get a big insulin release safely simply by just drinking a large sugary drink, then is it really worth using insulin?

I think there are two key strategies with insulin.

1: Using supraphysiological amounts of exogenous insulin with a lot of carbohydrates for maximal mass gains. 10gram per iu for this protocol, or more.

2: Using just physiological (1-2iu doses) or just over that (3-5iu) and trying to mimic a fasted glucose blood level to minimize fat gain (and possibly help with losing fat). In this protocol, you would use 3-7iu per gram, depending on the individual response.

He's still young but my body who was diagnosed with type 1 was at around 170 and 2 years later is still around 170 lbs. He really doesn't have a hard time managing it but he exercises and eats the way he was told to.

But he could always be the exception... It really just doesn't effect his day to day life that much other than the healthier lifestyle choices.

Some guys are able to keep their levels balanced better than others. My bro in law gets a little fatter every year since he was diagnosed 30 years ago. He has a hard time keeping levels balanced all the time, is inactive, and drinks too much.

On the flip side, my friend has maintained his levels very well, exercises regularly, and drinks only lightly on rare occasions. He has a layer of puffy fat on him that he can never get rid of, but overall, he is in great shape and great health. He's maintained this for 25 years.
All advice given is for entertainment value only. And it's free. Take it for what it's worth.

Id recommend you writing something on your arm the first few times you do it, or when you up your dose as you become more advanced. Ive seen, and heard of guys doing this as a form of CYA just in case you cant make it to your glucose tabs, or a soda so if someone (medics) are able to find you in time they already have a head start. Sorry if that sounds to finite, but you need to be prepared if that situation arises.

Also their is extensive information on Dats forum regarding insulin usage.

Although using Insulin is something I'd never dabble with, that was excellent advice and may save a life.

The only thing odd to me is how it would work out. If doing preworkout slin, are you going to workout with "insulin user" written across you arm? Or if you are home, will anyone even notice if you had an issue? (Assuming only one home)?

Maybe use magic ink that you have to shine a UV light on to see it. Ok, maybe not the best idea.

This is not for every time use, but for first timers, and if your experimenting with your dose.

Write it on the inside of your bicep, or wear a long sleeve shirt the day you decide to do it.

If you become unresponsive ..more than likely the medics will expose you, and hopefully someone will see insulin, and how many iu's you used. Then your current state of unresponsiveness can be addressed properly.

Or have some hack medic not realize you went hypo, and address your unresponsiveness differently.

Its better than fishing in the dark.

Screw using insulin preworkout. Imagine if you go hypo in the middle of a lift...
