Man, I thought a lot of you could pull at least 500...

I pulled 505 on my cycle and thought I'd need more weight to brag about it.
If you can bench more than you can squat, you're doing it wrong!

One of my delusional views I guess.
I've always felt like the amateur that will never been as good as you all, so when I achieve something, my thought is "wow, that was hard... I bet that's nothing compared to *insert name* "

    Deadlifts

All of you guys need to give yourselves a break. I'd have to find the numbers and the article I read, but I'm positive we are all above average. It's easy to convince one's self that he is weak because we read all this articles and logs by gigantic dudes who are in the top .00000001 percent of the population. But the reality is probably just the act of bench pressing or squatting your weight puts you in the top 5 percent of the population. Now, I will put my soap box away and go about my day;-).

    Just a reference
    Weightlifting Performance Standards

And there's probably all sorts of bro science floating around out there. Like the bench your body weight for "x" reps and your good, or some of the calculators that say deadlift this % this number of times to do 405.. etc.. Not to mention that powerlifting standards throw everything WAY off. Especially when you throw in Equipped vs raw.

Fact is 90% of the people you run into at the mall, on the street, or probably in your typical commercial gym CAN NOT do 405 let alone rep it. And the ones that can will most likely do it horribly wrong! It's one of those mile stone weights. And the deadlift can be a son of a bitch lift! You don't have any downward momentum to help you like on the bench or squat. It is about as true a test of strength (in my humble opinion) that you will ever find. And really if you can do say 405 x 5 or whatever and get enough of a pump or strain on your system to initiate muscle growth why would you do more, if your not a powerlifter/weightlifter?

I think you guys should give yourself some credit!

Looks like its gonna take a bit longer to pull 500 than I expected:/ . Once again I got ahead of myself. But no worries, I will pull 500 soon enough
